In a strong and unified response to the April 22 terror attack in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam, major Indian sports content platforms — Sony, Cricbuzz, and Fancode — have suspended all coverage and broadcast of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025. The move is seen as both symbolic and strategic, reflecting the country’s collective outrage following the killing of 26 civilians, including one foreign tourist, in what is now considered the deadliest civilian assault since the 2019 Pulwama tragedy.

The Resistance Front (TRF), reportedly a proxy of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the brutal attack that took place in the Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam. In a nationwide address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack as “an assault on the soul of India” and vowed strong retaliation, stating that “terrorism will not go unpunished.”

Following the address, Fancode — the exclusive digital broadcaster for PSL 2025 in India — became the first to suspend its streaming services of the tournament. Cricbuzz followed hours later, removing all PSL-related content, including scores, news, and fixtures, from its website and app. Now, Sony Sports Network has joined the boycott, further cutting off PSL’s digital and television visibility in India.

The coordinated actions by these platforms underline a broader sentiment sweeping across the nation — a call for severing entertainment and sports-related ties with Pakistan in the aftermath of state-linked terror activities. With PSL now effectively blacked out from Indian digital and broadcast media, this could set a precedent for how private enterprises respond to acts of terror going forward.
