Cricket enthusiasts who missed out on securing tickets for the ODI World Cup 2023 have a second chance, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to release 400,000 more tickets due to overwhelming demand. Tickets will be available for purchase from 8 PM today.

The initial ticket release on August 30 witnessed an extraordinary demand, with many fans unable to secure tickets. The BCCI, in partnership with the official ticketing partner BookMyShow, aims to accommodate as many passionate cricket fans as possible by releasing additional tickets.

For the second phase of ticket sales, fans can book their tickets on the ICC website starting at 8 PM.

The BCCI, after discussions with hosting state associations, made this decision to ensure broader fan participation in the historic event.

BookMyShow, the primary ticket sponsor for the World Cup 2023, faced criticism from fans during the first batch of ticket sales. Many fans expressed dissatisfaction with the ticket booking process and the inability to secure tickets for India matches. In response to the outcry, BookMyShow issued an apology to fans, acknowledging the high demand for tickets.

Despite the initial issues, the ICC and BCCI have chosen to continue their partnership with BookMyShow, citing the company’s extensive experience and accuracy in the ticketing industry.

Notably, tickets for all of India’s matches will be available on the ICC website, which provides a platform for sellers to set their own prices, allowing buyers to avoid missing out on tickets.

As demand continues to surge, ticket prices on the reselling platform have soared, with some listed at exorbitant rates. For instance, tickets for India’s match against Australia in Chennai start at a minimum price of Rs 41,007, going up to Rs 100,059. Prices for other India matches also vary significantly on the platform.
