Rohit Sharma, India’s talismanic captain, has added another feather to his illustrious cap by becoming the first Indian batsman to smash 50 sixes in the World Test Championship (WTC), followed by completing 1000 runs as a captain of Indian  Cricket team. This remarkable achievement came during the fifth and final Test against England at the picturesque HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

The historic moment unfolded in the fourth over of India’s innings when Rohit unleashed a monstrous six off the bowling of Mark Wood, sending the ball sailing over the ropes. This six not only brought up Rohit’s personal milestone but also propelled him to the second spot on the list of batsmen with the most WTC sixes, trailing only England’s Ben Stokes, who leads with 78 maximums.

However, Rohit’s pursuit of record-breaking feats doesn’t end there. The 36-year-old scored his second century on day 2 of the series. Rohit reached his second century while facing 154 deliveries.

While Rohit’s personal milestones garnered attention, his leadership on the field was equally impressive. Under his astute captaincy, India’s bowlers delivered a commanding performance, bundling out England for a paltry 218 in the first innings. Kuldeep Yadav’s five-wicket haul and Ravichandran Ashwin’s four-wicket burst were instrumental in dismantling the English batting lineup.

Rohit Sharma’s journey in cricket has been a tale of resilience and determination. After bursting onto the scene with a memorable performance in the 2007 Twenty20 World Cup, he has overcome numerous challenges, including being dropped from the Indian team and missing out on his Test debut due to injury, to cement his place as one of the modern greats of the game.

As the cricketing world applauds Rohit Sharma’s latest achievement, his unwavering spirit and commitment to excellence continue to inspire generations of aspiring cricketers. With his sights set on even greater heights, the Indian captain’s legacy continues to grow, etching his name in the annals of the game with each passing milestone.
