In preparation for the upcoming three-match T20I series against the UAE, the Afghanistan Cricket Board’s selection committee has introduced an 18-member squad. Notably, the regular T20I captain, Rashid Khan, is missing from the main lineup as he continues his recovery journey following a recent back surgery. Stepping into the captaincy role for the series is top-order batter Ibrahim Zadran.

The squad boasts significant additions, with fast bowlers Fazal Haq Farooqi and Naveen Ul Haq solidifying their commitment to representing the nation. Afghanistan enters the series on the heels of a commendable performance at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, clinching four impressive victories, including notable triumphs against teams like Pakistan and the 2019 champions, England.
