The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is confident that the political disturbance in Afghanistan shall not affect the ODI series. It is said that the Taliban authorities have granted permission to the national team to play the scheduled fixtures in Sri Lanka.
An anonymous source in the PCB has claimed to have gotten a positive response from the counterparts in Afghanistan ahead of the series as reported by PTI.
“The series appears to be on and the indications we have got is that the Taliban authorities have given green light for the series,” he said.
“We are going ahead with our plans and we will announce our squad as soon as the second test against the West Indies ends on 24th August,” he added.
The Afghan players have begun to train in the country’s capital while PCB has announced that a practice camp is to be set up in Lahore from August 21st to the 28th for the series that is scheduled to leave for Sri Lanka on the 29th of this month.
It is said that the new regime in Afghanistan have sent out a message to the international community by letting the cricket series go ahead after stating that there was no better way to show their soft image to the community.
The leading Afghan players include the likes of Rashid Khan, Rehman and a few others who are already in England participating in the ‘Hundred’ tournament.
