Indian women opting to bowl first have received the target of 156 runs as the hosts have played brilliantly in the only-T20 game with the great start of the opening pair followed by some quick action in the middle order. It will not be an easy chase for Indian women but it would be exciting to watch the second innings as the results for the game are near.

The opening pair of team New Zealand comforted the middle order players to bat freely as the positive start from the duo was much needed against one of the best teams India. Bates scored 36 and skipper Devine knocked 31 runs on board. The first four overs looked completely tight as the hosts were not able to score runs. Skipper Devine took the responsibility and hit for 20 runs in the fifth over which was bowled by debutant Simran Bahadur. It was not a good debut match for Simran as her poor performance of 2-0-26-0 has allowed the hosts to defend the given total.

Amelia Kerr, Maddy Green, and Tahuhu scored brilliantly in the middle order but the Indian bowlers were able to get them out easily without letting them create any impact. Kerr scored 17 runs, while Maddy knocked 26 runs and Tuhuhu was looking to score more runs today but got out in 27 runs off 14 balls. Katey Martin finished off in style by hitting consecutive boundaries in the last over sealing the innings at 155/5.

Indian women were able to seal New Zealand women’s innings in 155 runs and with Mandhana, not in the playing XI, New Zealand might have an upper hand after giving the target of 156 runs in the only-T20I game against India Women.
