Cricket legend Virender Sehwag has sharply criticised Pakistan after it violated the ceasefire agreement mere hours after it was announced. In a pointed message posted on social media, Sehwag shared an image with the Hindi phrase: “Kutte ki dum tedhi ki tedhi hi rehti hai” — a well-known idiom implying that some things never change, no matter how much effort is made.

The image, widely interpreted as a dig at Pakistan, came shortly after explosions were reported in Srinagar, Udhampur, and RS Pura in Jammu and Kashmir. The violations occurred despite a ceasefire agreement reached between the DGMOs of both nations and celebrated globally, including by U.S. President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Earlier, India had agreed to halt all firing across land, air, and sea from 5:00 PM IST on May 10, following a call initiated by Pakistan’s DGMO. However, visuals from Srinagar and Barmer later in the night showed fresh aerial activity and explosions, leading to outrage among citizens and top Indian figures.
Sehwag’s no-nonsense comment resonated with thousands of Indians, many of whom echoed the sentiment that Pakistan remains unreliable in honouring peace.
As the situation continues to evolve, the Indian government has issued high-alert warnings across multiple states, with blackouts and air defence deployments in full effect. The ceasefire, now under strain, faces intense scrutiny as military and political leaders review Pakistan’s latest actions.
