Pretoria Capitals have named veteran South African spinner Keshav Maharaj as their captain for the upcoming fourth season of the SA20. The franchise confirmed the appointment in an official statement on Friday.
Maharaj takes over leadership duties from Rilee Rossouw and Kyle Verreynne, who shared captaincy responsibilities during Season 3.
In their announcement, the Capitals highlighted Maharaj’s extensive experience and strong leadership credentials.
“We are pleased to confirm that Keshav Maharaj has been appointed as the captain for the upcoming SA20 season,” the statement read.
“One of South Africa’s most experienced and respected leaders, Maharaj brings a wealth of international pedigree across formats, along with a proven track record of guiding teams with composure, clarity and intent.
“Having captained South Africa in white-ball cricket and served as a senior figure within the national set-up for several years, Maharaj’s leadership experience, tactical understanding and consistency make him an invaluable addition in this role.
“His presence strengthens the balance and direction of the Pretoria Capitals squad as the team heads into the new season.”
Season four of the SA20 begins on 26 December 2025. MI Cape Town enter as defending champions, while Sunrisers Eastern Cape remain the most successful franchise in tournament history with two titles.
