The third ODI match between India and Bangladesh was marred by an umpiring controversy when Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s dismissal led to a heated confrontation with the umpire.
Despite a drawn match, the focus shifted to Harmanpreet’s outburst and subsequent criticism of the umpires. In response, Bangladesh’s captain, Nigar Sultana, displayed composure and sportsmanship, refraining from engaging in the controversy.
The incident sparked discussions on umpiring standards in cricket. Harmanpreet’s remarks implying biased umpiring further intensified tensions.
Speaking about the incident in the post-match presentation, Nigar slammed Kaur –
“It is totally her problem. I have nothing to do with it. As a player, she could have shown better manners. I can’t tell you what happened, but it didn’t feel right to be there [for the photograph] with my team. It wasn’t the right environment. That’s why we went back. Cricket is a game of discipline and respect,” she said.
