Ishan Kishan has earned another opportunity in the 50-over format after the BCCI named him in the India A squad for the upcoming unofficial ODI series against South Africa A. The wicketkeeper-batter, who has been out of the senior limited-overs setup for a while, will feature in a three-match series in Rajkot on November 13, 16 and 19.
Tilak Varma will lead the side, with Ruturaj Gaikwad named vice-captain. The squad blends young IPL performers with emerging domestic talent, offering players an important platform ahead of future ODI selections.
Kishan, who has struggled to secure a consistent spot in India’s senior white-ball squads, now gets a chance to push his case again with regular match-time in the 50-over format. Alongside him, top-order batters Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag, both strong domestic performers, have been picked. The squad also includes multiple pace options, with Arshdeep Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Prasidh Krishna part of the attack.
The selectors have continued to experiment with India’s white-ball pool, keeping senior names like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma out of the squad, as expected. Kishan will be one of the key names to watch, with the series providing a crucial opportunity to reclaim attention in the ODI setup.
