The KL Rahul-led team will be aiming to make up for last season’s mistakes and go the distance this time.
Seven players were released by LSG, and they entered the mini auction with a total of INR.23.35 Crore. These players included Jason Holder, Dushmantha Chameera, Evin Lewis, and Manish Pandey. In the previous season, Deepak Hooda, Quinton de Kock, and Rahul dominated the batting, so LSG required a middle-order batter who could also close out games. To secure Nicholas Pooran’s services, they paid up to 16 crore.
This season, Nicholas Pooran might be LSG’s X-factor. In the IPL 2022, Pooran played for the SRH and amassed 306 runs in 14 games with a strike rate of 144.34 and an average of 38.25, including two half-centuries. Pooran is the player on the LSG squad to look out for because of his high strike rate, especially early in his innings.
Pooran will undoubtedly feel the pressure of his enormous price tag, but there is no denying that the Windies star is a match-winner and unquestionably a player to look out for in the IPL 2023.
