India’s star batter Shubman Gill has been named the ICC Player of the Month for February 2025, following his outstanding performances in ODI cricket. This is Gill’s third time winning the award, equaling Babar Azam’s record for the most ICC Player of the Month titles.

Brilliant performances in the India vs England Test series

Gill played a key role in India’s one-day series victory against England, scoring 87, 60, and 112 in the three-match series at home. His consistency helped India dominate the series, and he was named the Player of the Series for his crucial contributions with the bat.

Century in the Champions Trophy opener

Gill carried his red-hot form into the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, where he smashed a brilliant century against Bangladesh in India’s opening match. He followed that with a solid 46-run knock against Pakistan, helping India maintain a strong start in the tournament.

Becomes No.1 ODI batter in ICC rankings

During February, Gill also achieved another milestone by becoming the No.1 ODI batter in the ICC rankings, surpassing other top batters with his consistent performances in the format.

Equals Babar Azam’s record for most Player of the Month awards

With this latest honor, Gill has now won the ICC Player of the Month award three times. He previously won it in January 2023 and September 2023, now joining Babar Azam as the player with the most such awards.

Here’s a list of most ICC Men’s Player of the Month Awards won by a player

3 – Babar Azam (April ’21, March ’22, August, ’23)

3 – Shubman Gill (January ’23, September ’23, February ’25)
