The India vs Pakistan clash is usually the hottest ticket in cricket, with stadiums selling out within hours of sales opening. But ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 blockbuster in Dubai, ticket sales have been surprisingly sluggish, dampened by a mix of political tensions, boycott calls, and sky-high ticket prices.

Ticket prices shock fans

According to multiple ticketing platforms, premium seating options for the September 14 match are priced at staggering levels. A pair of VIP Suites East tickets cost ₹2.5 lakh, which includes aisle seating, unlimited food and beverages, a parking pass, VIP lounge access, and private entrances.

Other luxury seating tiers are also exorbitantly priced:

  • Royal Box: ₹2.3 lakh

  • Sky Box: ₹1.6 lakh

  • Platinum level: ₹75,659
Even the most affordable tickets are close to ₹10,000 for a pair, keeping many fans away.

Why are sales sluggish?

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has pointed out that the muted demand is unusual for an India-Pakistan fixture, which traditionally attracts packed houses regardless of the venue. Experts suggest three key reasons:

  1. Boycott calls: Following the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s Operation Sindoor, a section of fans has been vocal against playing Pakistan, with social media campaigns urging people to skip the game.

  2. High pricing: The premium ticket costs—some exceeding ₹4 lakh for a pair—have priced out many average fans.

  3. Political backdrop: The government’s decision to allow participation despite tensions has added to divided sentiment, with excitement around the game dimmed compared to previous years.

The big picture

Despite sluggish sales, the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup match will still draw global attention when the teams meet at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. But the unusual ticket demand highlights how politics and pricing have dented what is usually cricket’s most anticipated contest.
