The start of the second was not so good as the K.L Rahul was standing strong but the second ball of the day by Ollie Robinson and he lost his wicket and then Ajinkya Rahane also lost an early wicket after playing 23 deliveries and scoring just 1 run and then the middle order handled the situation with grace as Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja had a partnership.
Then Mark Wood broke the Partnership and took much needed Pant’s wicket at 37 (58) and the early collapse of Tailenders as both Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah both got out on Duck. Jadeja’s inning helped India to set a good total of 364. Rahul became only the third Indian opener to score a century at Lords and scored 129 (250).
Mohammad Siraj gave the start that India was craving for and got two early wickets of Dominic Sibley 11 (44) who was caught by Rahul and on the very next delivery he got Haseeb Hameed who was taken into Team after some injuries in the squad. He got bowled by an amazing yorker-length ball. This happened after the first over after Tea.
After this collapse the captain Joe Root again settled the team and built a partnership alongside Rory Burns. They took the scoreboard from 23-2 to 108-2 and then Shami got Rory burns with an LBW and he missed his half-century by 1 run after playing 136 balls he was looking strong and it was a much-needed breakthrough for him him him the Indian team. The day ended with 119-3 and Day 3 will be crucial for both teams.
