An upcoming T20I series will pit India and South Africa against one other. The T20I series between India and South Africa consists of five games. South Africa’s 2022 tour of India begins on Thursday, June 9 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. On June 19 (Sunday) the 5th T20I will be played.
India has picked an 18-man squad to lead the team, with KL Rahul at the helm. Temba Bavuma will lead South Africa’s 16-man squad. In the IPL 2022, a number of South African players put in outstanding performances. In this article, we discuss three South African players who, based on their performance in the IPL 2022, could participate in the South Africa series.
While India’s 18-man team appears to be absolutely stunning, there are five players in the Indian squad to keep an eye on.
KL Rahul
KL Rahul has had a fantastic season, and his leadership plus batting have garnered him a big round of applause. All of this was on show during the Lucknow Super Giants’ IPL 2022 campaign. The opening batsman has a strike rate of 135.38 and has scored 616 runs at an average of 51.33. He starts international service in good form as a captain. The team’s right-handed hitter will also open the innings.
Hardik Pandya
Hardik received all he could have dreamed for in the IPL 2022. He’s now part of an exclusive set of Gujarat Titans players who have won five IPL titles. With a fantastic all-round performance, he guided the Gujarat Titans, his native state IPL side, to the title in their inaugural season.
Hardik finished the season with 487 runs and 8 wickets, and he is full of confidence heading into the T20I series. There’s no disputing that this capable all-rounder will be the centre of attention.
Yuzvendra Chahal
During IPL 2022, the right-arm spinner showed off his spin magic by scalping the maximum 27 wickets and earning the purple cap. Chahal also had a strong showing in the T20I series against Sri Lanka, taking two wickets at an average of 19.0 in two games.
Dinesh Karthik
With a spectacular performance in the IPL, Dinesh Karthik not only knocked on the door of selection, but blasted it wide open. DK, who won the IPL’s ‘Super Striker of the Season’ award with a mind-boggling strike-rate of 183, once again demonstrated his ‘finisher’ title. DK will aim to repeat his performance with the Indian jersey, having scored 330 runs at an average of 55.
Umran Malik
With his bowling average of 150 kmph in every match, the Sunrisers Hyderabad speed machine from J&K has grabbed everyone’s eye. Umran Malik owned the accolade for the fastest delivery of the season until Lockie Ferguson grabbed it with a 157.3 kmph smash in the IPL final. Umran had 22 wickets in 14 IPL matches in his inaugural season, with his best performance of 5/25 – the greatest in the league’s history – coming versus eventual champions Gujarat Titans.
Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh was another promising young player to come from the Punjab Kings squad. The 23-year-old was Punjab Kings’ go-to death-over bowler, with leg breakers and the ability to bowl wide yorkers in his quiver.
Arshdeep concluded the season with 10 wickets in 14 matches, the highest of which was 3/37 with a 7.70 economy rate. He’ll be keen to continue in this state throughout the series.
Ravi Bishnoi
Ravi Bishnoi had a solid IPL 2022 season. He took 13 wickets for the Lucknow Super Giants at an average of 35.07 and an economy rate of 8.44. Despite the fact that Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal appear to be locked in as India’s frontline spin combination for the limited-overs format, numerous individuals are battling for the third, or backup, spinner slot.
