The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 Trophy Tour has begun with a spectacular launch at an altitude of 120,000 feet, culminating at India’s Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
A specially designed stratospheric balloon carried the World Cup Trophy, capturing stunning images of the iconic silverware on the edge of the Earth’s atmosphere using 4K cameras.
“An out-of-this-world moment for the cricketing world as the #CWC23 trophy unveiled in space. Marks a milestone of being one of the first official sporting trophies to be sent to space. Indeed a galactic start for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour in India,” Jay Shah tweeted.
The balloon journeyed through over 99.5% of the Earth’s atmosphere, enduring temperatures as low as -65°C. This extraordinary space flight sets the stage for the largest ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour, aiming to engage one million fans worldwide.
The tour will visit 18 countries across five continents, providing cricket enthusiasts with an opportunity to connect with the prized trophy ahead of the highly anticipated global event in India.
