Afghanistan beat Bangladesh by seven wickets at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Monday, following Rahmanullah magnificent century. Afghanistan chased down the 193-run mark in just 40.1 overs.
In the middle overs, Afghan spinners weaved a web to disrupt Bangladesh’s innings, bowling them out for a mere 192. Gurbaz then made the chase seem easy, finishing with a stroke-filled 106 to add another feather to his fantastic new cap.
Gurbaz’s 110-ball 106 not out included seven fours and four sixes, as well as two crucial partnerships that helped the team get closer to victory.
He and Riaz got Afghanistan off to a good start, putting on a 79-run opening partnership until left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan broke through with a stumping of the latter.
For the second wicket, Gurbaz added another 100 runs with Rahmat Shah.
Mehidy Hasan struck twice, first removing Shah to end the partnership and then dismissing Afghan captain Hashmatullah Shahihi.
Gurbaz reached his century off 103 balls, smashing speedster Mustafizur Rahman past cover for doubles and then finishing the game off with a single off Mehidy to square leg.
