Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has thrown his support behind the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) recent decision to extend the contract of India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid. Gambhir, who shared the dressing room with the ex-Indian captain, deems BCCI’s move as a wise one, especially with the T20 World Cup 2024 on the horizon.
Rahul Dravid took charge of the Indian team following Ravi Shastri’s tenure after the 2021 T20 World Cup. While initial reports suggested Dravid’s reluctance to extend his contract post the recently concluded ODI World Cup, BCCI has successfully convinced him to continue. However, the specifics of the contract duration remain undisclosed.
“It’s a good thing because the T20 World Cup is around the corner, and you don’t want to change the entire support staff, and it is good that Rahul has accepted it,” expressed Gambhir in a statement to ANI.
