MS Dhoni’s decision to retire from international cricket after remaining away from competitive cricket took social media to a storm for his fans and cricket lovers. Dhoni announced his decision at 7:29 PM on August 15 with a post on Instagram and Twitter. In what has come as exciting news for fans and admirers of Mahendra Singh Dhoni across the world, a BCCI official has hinted that the board will consider arranging a farewell match back home for the former captain of the Indian Cricket Team.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren had earlier requested the BCCI to arrange a farewell match for the Ranchi-born superstar and now, four days post-Dhoni’s retirement, a BCCI official has said that the board will talk to the veteran during IPL 2020 and get his opinion on the matter. The official also added that regardless of Dhoni’s consent, the board would consider giving the former skipper a grand felicitation ceremony back in India.
“I wish to appeal to BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) to hold a farewell match for MS Dhoni; Jharkhand would like to host it: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Dhoni’s retirement from international cricket”, CM Soren tweeted on August 15th.

“IPL is happening in the UAE and everybody will be excited to watch Dhoni playing with his team. But the board can host a series in India too so that people can see him live in the stadium obviously once this COVID pandemic gets over”.
A BCCI official recently confirmed with a statement that the board is looking to organize a farewell match for Dhoni after the conclusion of IPL 2020 which is all set to be staged in the UAE starting September 19. The final of IPL 200 will be played on November 10 following which the board can organize Dhoni’s last game in an India jersey.
