Experienced bowler Jahanara Alam has been excluded from the preliminary squad announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for the upcoming white-ball series against India.
The squad selection sees the return of pacer Marufa Akter, who missed the Sri Lanka tour due to exams. Former captain Salma Khatun, who performed well in the Premier Division Women’s Cricket League, has also made a comeback after being overlooked in the previous series against Sri Lanka.
However, Rumana Ahmed, another experienced player, has not regained her spot in the preliminary squad. The team management aims to focus on the future by selecting fresh faces and addressing fielding issues, which have contributed to recent defeats.
The players will convene for a training camp in Dhaka on June 30, with the series consisting of three T20Is and three ODIs scheduled in July.
The matches will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, marking Bangladesh’s first series under the ICC’s Women’s Future Tours Program 2022-2025.
