India’s chase of 265 in the high-stakes semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 got off to a mixed start as the openers failed to capitalize on their starts. Shubman Gill was the first to fall, bowled by Ben Dwarshuis for 8 off 11 balls. Dwarshuis had been targeting Gill and finally got his reward with a delivery that crashed into the stumps.
The bigger blow for India came when Rohit Sharma, who was looking in great touch, was trapped LBW by Cooper Connolly for 28 off 29 balls. The young Australian all-rounder, who had had a quiet game until then, let out a roar of relief after dismissing the Indian skipper. Rohit, attempting a slog-sweep against a full delivery, completely missed the ball. The umpire raised his finger immediately, and the review only confirmed that the ball was smashing into leg stump. It was a moment of redemption for Connolly and a huge boost for Australia, who were looking more serious after breaking India’s opening partnership.
With India at 61/2 in 12.1 overs, all eyes are now on Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. Can they anchor India’s chase and take them to the final, or will Australia tighten their grip on the game?
Stay tuned for more updates from this thrilling semi-final clash…
