The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released its Annual Player Contracts for the 2024–25 season, and it has brought both comebacks and surprises. Shreyas Iyer, who was previously excluded from the central contracts due to absence from domestic cricket, has now been reinstated in Grade B, entitling him to an annual salary of ₹3 crore.
On the other hand, Ishan Kishan, who had also lost his contract last year under similar circumstances, has been included in Grade C, with a corresponding annual salary of ₹1 crore.
The BCCI’s contract structure is divided into four tiers:
-
Grade A+ – ₹7 crore
-
Grade A – ₹5 crore
-
Grade B – ₹3 crore
-
Grade C – ₹1 crore
Iyer back in the mix, Kishan’s cautious return
Shreyas Iyer’s return comes after solid performances in ICC tournaments and domestic cricket, proving his consistency and form. Meanwhile, Kishan’s return, although in the lowest grade, signals BCCI’s willingness to monitor his future commitment and performances closely.
Top-tier unchanged, fresh entries in Grade C
The A+ category remains unchanged with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja. Among the notable new entrants in Grade C is Varun Chakaravarthy, who earned his spot following a strong Champions Trophy campaign.
With this updated contract list, BCCI continues to reward performances while holding firm on its stand regarding participation in domestic cricket.
This contract cycle is applicable from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025.
