Tamim Iqbal has led the first major decision of the new Bangladesh Cricket Board ad-hoc committee, increasing match fees and salaries in domestic cricket.
Tamim-led BCB raises domestic pay, admits women cricketers were underpaid
Women players will now earn BDT 10,000 (around ₹7,500) for T20s, BDT 15,000 (around ₹11,200) for 50-over matches, and BDT 20,000 (around ₹15,000) for first-class games. Monthly salaries for the top 36 players have risen from BDT 30,000 (₹22,500) to BDT 40,000 (₹30,000), effective January 1, 2026.
Tamim said the change was necessary, admitting Bangladesh’s women players in domestic cricket were severely underpaid. He noted that while the increase may not be ideal, it is a step forward after years of minimal revision.
Men’s domestic players have also received a raise. Category A players will now earn BDT 65,000 (₹48,700) per month, while Category B and C players will receive BDT 50,000 (₹37,500) and BDT 40,000 (₹30,000) respectively. First-class match fees have gone up from BDT 70,000 to BDT 100,000 (around ₹75,000).
Committee looks to address wider issues
Tamim stressed that players deserve fair compensation given their role in sustaining the sport. He added that there had been little increment in the past three to four years, which left many players underpaid.
The committee has also assigned roles to its eleven members and is working to resolve the ongoing deadlock between clubs and the board. Plans are in place to start the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League within the next few weeks.
The pay revision marks an early move by the new administration, with further structural changes expected.
