The Bangladesh campaign in the third ODI against Sri Lanka saw a string of injuries, with uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali being rushed to the hospital after a freak fielding incident at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
In the bid to catch a Pramod Madushan stroke off Taskin Ahmed bowling, Jaker Ali and Anamul Haque bump collided in the middle of the field, resulting in the unfortunate incident, which saw Ali stretchered off. What seemed as a bad day for Bangladesh got worse with more injuries.
A cramping Mustafizur Rahman had to be stretchered off even as Soumya Sarkar injured his neck while fielding. As the player was rushed to the hospital, Tanzid Hasan stepped up as a concussion substitute for Sarkar.
In addition, umpire Richard Kettleborough was off due to heat and Tanvir Ahmed replaced him in the third ODI. The injuries have raised concern or more, proving the wrong assumption about the stoked or inadequacy instead of the vicious intensity of the gripping on-field competition on the player’s health.
