According to a report published by Financial Express, Reliance Industries Limited’s Jio has seeks permission to test its own 5G products by Department of Telecommunication (DoT). After getting the green signal Jio will undertake the entire process on its own, no third-party will be involved.
While the lab testing requires only non-radiating spectrum, the telco still has to take the DoT’s nod for spectrum use and to import gear.
As of now, Jio has filed 5 applications for 5G trials along with Airtel and Vodafone Idea but the DoT hasn’t granted permission to anyone.
