Jio announces 5G-based connectivity countrywide using 26 GHz mm-wave spectrum

The largest spectrum footprint is that of Jio. Each of Jio’s 22 circles also has 1,000 MHz in the millimeter wave band (26 GHz), which will specifically enable enterprise use cases and offer top-notch streaming capabilities.

Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (“RJIL”) stated today that, in accordance with the provisions of the spectrum issued to it on August 17, 2022, it has completed its minimum roll-out commitments in each of the 22 Licensed Service Areas (“LSA”), across each of the spectrum bands, ahead of schedule. The required DoT testing was finished in all circles by August 11th 2023, and on July 19th 2023, RJIL finished submitting the required details to fulfill the Phase 1 minimum roll-out obligation with the Department of Telecommunications (“DoT”) Units.

In addition to its deep fiber network and in-house technological platforms, Jio’s acquisition of a rare combination of low-band, mid-band, and mmWave spectrum will allow it to offer 5G For All (consumers and businesses) and 5G Everywhere.

The fastest 5G rollout of this scope has been achieved worldwide thanks to Jio engineers’ nonstop efforts to assure the fastest rollout of its True 5G network. Jio is commemorating ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ on this country’s 77th Independence Day by rolling out Jio True-5G business connectivity across the whole country.

With the additional layer of True-5G benefits provided by Jio’s StandAlone deployment, Jio thinks that the mmWave spectrum is a key differentiator that will allow it to offer 5G-based commercial connectivity solutions to millions of small, medium, and large organizations.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, said, “We are proud to announce that we have brought India to the leadership position globally in speed of roll-out of 5G services. This is in keeping with our commitment to the Government of India, the Department of Telecommunications, and the 1.4 billion Indians towards accelerated roll-out of high-quality 5G services. Naturally, we have also fulfilled the minimal roll-out requirements for the 5G spectrum that was given to us. Our team has been working around the clock since receiving the 5G spectrum in August of last year to make sure we maintain the speed of 5G roll-out that we had promised to enable pan-India 5G coverage by the end of this year. This is one of the world’s swiftest large-scale 5G roll-outs, giving India a significant place on the 5G globe.

High bandwidth and reduced latency are two advantages of 5G mmWave. This can provide businesses wishing to install cutting-edge apps with quicker speeds and less lag than they would otherwise have with older wireless networking technology. By offering equally stable fixed-wireless services, mmWave business solutions will grow the market for leased lines and digitize millions of small and medium-sized businesses with enterprise-grade connectivity and business solutions. Up to 2 Gbps of ultra-high-speed broadband can be provided using this frequency.
