The Delhi government on Saturday, flagged a shortage in oxygen and the hugely essential drug Remdesivir administered to patients. The government is desperately trying to scale up the number of available hospital beds.
Mr Kejriwal had said the situation is “very serious and worrisome”.
Highlighting the current coronavirus situation and the dwindling medical supplies, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal raised his concerns about the rising cases. He maintained, it is the reason Delhi is currently “facing shortages even though everything seemed under control until a few days ago”.
Over the weekend, Delhi joined Mumbai and several other cities in shutting down all but essential services. Earlier this week, the state government also announced night curfew – apparently, these measures seem to have failed to stem the tide – as the number of fresh cases are mounting with every passing day.
Mr Kejriwal, in his meeting on Sunday, summarized the problems faced by the state and emphasized the speed at which the novel Coronavirus is growing – ultimately leading to the increased ‘Positivity rate’ from 24% to 30% in the last 24 hours, reported ANI.
The Covid-19 situation in India has raised eyebrows across the world, and Delhi has less than 100 ICU beds left. The shortage of oxygen has added to the problems faced by masses rescinding in the national capital.
Delhi CM held a dialogue with the Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Harsh Vardhan on Saturday and Home Minister, Amit Shah on Sunday morning – discussing the lack of beds and informed them that the state in dire need of medical supplies.
“Positivity rate increased from 24% to 30% in last 24 hours. Less than 100 ICU beds left & there’s oxygen shortage. Spoke to Dr Harsh Vardhan yesterday & Amit Shah ji this morning regarding lack of beds & informed them that we’re in dire need”, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal informed in a meeting on Sunday.
