Patanjali CEO Balkrishna contradicts Baba Ramdev. Patanjali’s Coronil caught the headlines when it announced a drug that claimed to cure Corona Virus within a week. Furthermore, the company on 23rd June had said that it has come up with the “research-based medicine”. And conducted clinical trials in joint efforts with National Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Jaipur. Moreover, Ramdev added that the research found “69% patients recovered in three days and 100% patients recovered in seven days.”
Therefore, an FIR was filed in Jaipur against yoga guru Ramdev, Patanjali CEO Acharya Balkrishna. And four others for “misleading” people. By propagating Patanjali Ayurved’s drug Coronil as a cure for the infection. The Ministry of AYUSH had asked Patanjali to provide details. Like the composition of the medicines, the results of its research. Also the hospitals where the research was conducted. Whether the company had a clearance from the Institutional Ethics Committee. Lastly, whether it had registered for the clinical trials (claiming that the drug cured 280 patients within days).
“We never said the medicine Coronil can cure or control corona. We said that we had made medicines and used them in clinical controlled trial which cured Corona patients. Therefore, there is no confusion in it”. Acharya Balkrishna, CEO Patanjali Ayurveda, said to Agency ANI.
The highly communicable disease, which has killed lakhs across the globe, currently has no evidence-based cure. Most recently Glenamrk, Indian Pharma Co. launched an antiviral drug Favipiravir. Under the brand name FabiFlu to cure patients with mild symptoms of the Novel Corona Virus.
As per Patanjali's application, we issued them license. They didn't mention coronavirus, we only approved license for immunity booster, cough & fever. We'll issue them a notice asking how they got permission to make the kit (for COVID19): Licence Officer, Uttarakhand Ayurved Dept pic.twitter.com/I7CWKoJhbK
