Delhi Cheif Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday raised his concerns for the Indian journalists – who have been working round-the-clock as frontline people amid the pandemic. The AAP leader asserted that the Delhi government is writing to the Centre asking them to vaccinate journalists on priority.
“Journalists are reporting from most adverse situations. They shud be treated as frontline workers and shud be allowed vaccination on priority. Delhi govt is writing to centre in this regard”, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote in a tweet on Wednesday.

Mr Kejriwal’s tweet comes after Delhi reported over 13,500 cases in a span of 24 hours, on Tuesday. He had also urged the Centre to cancel Board exams for classes 10 & 12.

Bihar Chief Minister on Friday (April 9, 2021) explained – he is in favour of the vaccination of journalists of all age groups and applauded their efforts amid the pandemic. He also asserted that they should be included among frontline workers, reported ANI.
India initiated the COVID-19 vaccination drive on January 16 with two vaccines – Covishield (Oxford-AstraZeneca’s vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India) and COVAXIN (manufactured by Bharat Biotech Limited).
The nation commenced its second phase of the Coronavirus vaccination drive to inoculate people above 60 years and those over 45 with comorbidities against the coronavirus from March 1, followed by the third phase on April 1 for all above 45 years of age, reported ANI.
The ANI report further added that Russia’s Sputnik V has also received approval from the Subject expert committee (SEC) for Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA), making it the third Covid-19 vaccine to get clearance in India.
