
India reported 34,457 new cases in the last 24 hours taking the total tally to 32,393,286 on Saturday. The country also reported 540 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 4,33,964. The active caseload in the country has declined to 3,61,340, the lowest in 151 days, the Ministry of health and family welfare reported.
Active cases presently form only 1.12% of the country’s total positive cases which is the lowest since March last year. India’s recovery rate stands at 97.54%, the highest since March 2020.
The weekly positivity rate also came down to less than 3%, standing at 1.98%. India administered 36,36,043 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours talking the cumulative figure to 57,61,17,350.
On Friday, Zydus Cadila’s ZyCov-D vaccine received approval for emergency use authorization from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI). The vaccine which is co-developed by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, will be administered to children above 12 years and adults.
