On Monday, April 12, Union Health Ministry released the data of new COVID-19 cases in India, after that, India became the second worst country of being affected from Coronavirus.
Report released by the Union Health Ministry states that in the last 24 hours, India reported 1,68,912 new COVID-19 cases and reached the milestone of highest single day surge and 75,086 patients got discharge, while 904 people died of this deadly virus. Total active cases in India is now around 12 lakhs.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state in the country followed by Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.

Health Ministry on Sunday evening tweeted that, “On Day 1 of Tika Utsav, more than 27 lakh vaccine doses were administered, till 8 pm. Sunday generally witnesse lower vaccination numbers (about 16 lakh on an average).”
India has managed to administer 10,45,28,565 COVID-19 vaccines as of Monday morning. As per an update shared by the Health Ministry, 1.29 crore individuals have received the second dose of the vaccines.
In last 24 hours, Delhi reported 10,774 new cases and 48 deaths ,case tally at 7,25,197. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will hold a meeting at 12 noon today amid rising COVID-19 cases.

Yestersday, on April 11th, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray held a meeting with the Covid-19 taskforce in the state; all stakeholders were agreed on a “need for lockdown” in the state to contain the spread of Coronavirus infections. Thackeray will also hold another meeting today with state departments to discuss the imposition of lockdown in the state.
