The current Director-General of the Indian Council of Medical Research, Prof. Balram Bhargava, gave a statement saying that India hasn’t seen a peak in terms of COVID-19 cases like other countries.
According to the DG, the United States and other European countries have experienced sharp rises in the COVID-19 cases and therefore have seen two peaks in the curve, i.e, a second wave in the rise of coronavirus cases.
India on the other has seen a relatively flatter curve due to the effective early lockdown.
US & countries of Europe had a peak, then they came down&there is a 2nd wave occurring there. We took learning from that. We distributed the curve in a way that we didn't have many deaths. It was because we had an effective lockdown. We didn't have a huge peak at all: DG ICMR pic.twitter.com/wL8WFpD9yg
