
According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India recorded another spike of 34,884 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. India’s Coronavirus tally now stands at 10,38,716. A total of 671 fatalities were recorded taking the death toll to 26,273.
As per the data released by the Government, the active number of cases stands at 3,58,692 while the number of recovered patients is at 6,53,751. This is the seventh day straight India has reported over 28,000 cases in a single day.
Till yesterday, 1,34,33,742 samples have been tested for the Coronavirus infection, as per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). 3,61,042 samples were tested yesterday alone.
– Maharashtra is the worst-affected state in terms of both the number of cases and the number of fatalities.
– The state has reported 2,92,589 Coronavirus cases and 11,452 deaths.
– Tamil Nadu is the second worst-affected state in terms of the number of cases.
– It has a tally of 1,60,907 cases and a death toll of 2,315.
– India’s capital Delhi is the second worst-affected in terms of the number of fatalities.
– Delhi has reported a total of 1,20,107 cases and 3,571 deaths.
With a surge in COVID-19 in Bihar, Assam, West Bengal and Odisha, the Health Ministry has asked these states to make more efforts in containing the transmission of the Coronavirus and keeping the fatality rate below 1%.
India is now the third worst-affected nation across the globe. According to the Reuters tally, the number of cases globally crossed 14 million on Friday.
