
With the increasing number of cases of Covid-19 in Maharashtra, night curfew has been announced as well as the complete lockdown on weekends, on Sunday.
This new set of restrictions involves a ban on gatherings of five or more people, restaurants/malls/bars are to remain closed. Though services of essential stuff will be available plus home delivery is also not prohibited. Another point to be noted is that there will be a curfew in the state from 8 pm till 7 am.
Also, the government is yet to announce rules in order to curb gatherings in the vegetable markets.
Along with this, theatres will remain shut though film shouts will be allowed with proper precautionary measures.
The decision got promulgated after Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray held a cabinet meeting to take up discussion over the rising cases of the Novel Coronavirus.
Well, there were nearly 50,000 cases reported in Maharashtra on Saturday. While in the state capital Mumbai, there sprung up over 11,000 cases on Sunday. It turns out to be the highest number of cases since the pandemic broke out in December 2019.
According to the center, eight out of the top 10 worst pandemic-hit districts in India are from Maharashtra; as quoted by NDTV.
Well, in a high-level meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, it was made a point that central teams comprising public health specialists as well as clinicians will be sent to Maharashtra, Pun jab and Chhattisgarh as they are dreadfully hit by the virus; according to the NDTV reports.
