Technical issues in the CoWIN app has triggered contact lags and legitimate concerns among the beneficiaries, as per Maharashtra health authorities, resulting in a relatively low turnout for vaccination. Maharashtra has agreed to begin with the next session of vaccination on Tuesday after a gap of two days, Moneycontrol reported.
“The target was to administer vaccine doses to 28,500 beneficiaries at 285 centres in the state. By the end of the day, 18,425 beneficiaries, or 65 per cent, were given the shot,” said Dr Dilip Patil, State Immunization Officer.
While 100% turnout was registered for vaccination in the Hingoli district, the overall number for vaccination is beyond 90% in Dhule, Solapur, Beed, Parbhani and Buldhana. 385 healthcare staff at six centers were given the indigenous Covaxin vaccine while the Covishield shot has been used in other centres.
Dr Dilip Patil also said that the remaining 35% people who did not turn up for the vaccination as scheduled will be given the jabs in the subsequent sessions.
Maharashtra is not the only state to pause trials as Odisha government also agreed no to perform the Coronavirus vaccination drive in order to observe whether any complications from the jab formed in those who obtained the COVID-19 vaccine on January 16.
