Chandigarh administration restricts all non-essential activities between 10:30 PM to 5:00 AM till further notice

Any breach of this order shall invite action under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

On Wednesday, April 7, Chandigarh District Magistrate Mandip Singh Brar issued circular for the new rules and regulation for Covid-19 restrictions.

Chandigarh DM said, “Prohibition on movement of individuals for all non-essential activities b/w 10:30 pm-5 am in Chandigarh. Order to come into effect from tonight till further orders. Hospitals, chemist shops & ATMs to remain open 24/7. No curbs on inter-state & intra-state of goods,” as quoted by ANI.

The circular quotes, “No person shall leave their homes or shall move on foot or by vehicle or travel or stand or roam around on any road or public places during above said hours.”
The circular further quotes, “There shall be no curbs on inter-state and intra-state movement of essential and non- essential goods. All vehicles/persons in bonafide transit (inter-state/intra-state) shall be allowed to pass, but only after due verification of point of origin and destination. Hospitals, chemist shops and A.T.M.s shall be allowed to remain open 24 X 7. Pregnant women and patients for getting medical/health services are allowed to roam here and there.”
All restaurants and eating places, hotels including food joints/courts in various mails failing within the jurisdiction of Chandigarh shall run only with 50% of their capacity and close by 10:00 P.M. The last order for food can not be accepted after 09:00 P.M.

Earlier today, Punjab government had also announced about the night curfew and imposed night curfew from 9 PM to 5 AM across the entire state till April 30 and also banned political gatherings. Delhi government had also announced about imposition of night curfew with immediate effect until April 30 on Tuesday, April 6.
