For the second time in a year, a new hack targets AIIMS Delhi

According to AIIMS Delhi, a malware assault was discovered by its cyber-security systems around 2:50 PM on Tuesday.

Fresh cyberattacks were launched on Monday against the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi. According to the top medical facility, the malware assault attempt was effectively stopped and the danger was quickly neutralised.

The prestigious medical institute suffered service interruptions as a result of a cyberattack in November 2022, and this is the second hack against AIIMS Delhi in a year. Due to the hack, the medical center’s systems were rendered inoperable, and the AIIMS subsequently suspended two analysts for alleged cybersecurity violations.

As Delhi Police joined the inquiry alongside the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) and National Informatics Centre (NIC), the hospital’s internet access remained disabled for a number of days. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) also went to the hospital and assisted the law enforcement authorities with their investigation.

Many services, especially those that relied on the internet, were disrupted as a result of the hack. The hospital started using Standard Operation Procedures (SoP) for its manual admission and discharge process.

Connections between China and Hong Kong :
According to the investigation of the AIIMS cyberattack, the servers that were exploited may have come from China and Hong Kong. Delhi has requested in writing that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) contact Interpol for more details.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) website was reportedly targeted 6,000 times by hackers, but they were unable to compromise it. The sources further stated that AIIMS was not the only target of cyberattacks as attempts at the servers of other prestigious organisations were also attempted.
