NEET-PG aspirants along with FAIMA (Federation of All India Medical Association) have taken their request for postponement of the entrance exams for 2-3 months to the apex court. The NEET-PG exams have been scheduled for March 5, 2023 as of now however aspirants have requested for the exams to be postponed in order to reduce the time gap between the examination and the counselling date.
Candidates argue that if the exam is conducted in March and the counselling in August as per schedule then they will not have sufficient amount of time to take up any job nor will they be able to utilize the time for studying. Therefore students want the exam to be shifted to June 2023 which will help them get more time to prepare for the exam, resulting in better performance and it will also aid those students who become eligible to appear for this time’s exam due to revised guidelines and couldn’t get enough time earlier.
The Supreme Court heard the matter today and have asked the NBE to devise a solution for the same by Monday. The 3-judge Bench will hear the case on February 27, 2023 next, till then no order has been passed and the case has been left open.
Earlier in February, in his defense the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya refused to postponed the NEET-PG exam in the Parliament as he said, “The exam date is March 5 and it was announced five months ago, students who had to appear for the exam have been preparing for it already.”
Final decision awaits till Monday on the recommendations of the National Board of Examinations.
