Harsh cold conditions : Winter vacations extended in Jammu schools till Jan 17

Directorate of School Education has further extended winter vacations in all private and government schools falling in the Summer Zone of Jammu Division till January 17.

Jammu, Jan 14 : In view of prevailing harsh cold conditions, the Directorate of School Education has further extended winter vacations in all private and government schools falling in the Summer Zone of Jammu Division till January 17.

Earlier the vacations were extended till January 13.

An order issued by the Directorate of School Education on Sunday stated that the winter vacations are extended till January 17 for the students up to the eighth standard.

To accommodate the extension, schools will operate with revised timings from 11 AM to 3 PM during this period, it read.

Meanwhile a MeT official said that no significant weather is expected until January 24.

“The dry weather likely to continue till January 24 with feeble western disturbances approaching on January 16 and 20,” he said.

There is no overall significant weather activity till January 24, he added.

Notably, Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 2.5°C compared to 4°C on the previous night.
