
While the textile ministry shall be handled by a member of the upper house Piyush Goyal. Following today’s cabinet reshuffle the education portfolio shall now be handled by Rajya Sabha member of the Parliament, Dharmendra Pradhan, who was handling the petroleum ministry in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s second term till now, as per a report released by NDTV.
Smriti Irani who shall be handling the women and child ministry shall be replaced by Mr Goyal, while on the other hand after Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank resigned from his position yesterday, Mr Pradhan shall be taking over his position.
Promoted as a Cabinet Minister in September 2017, The 52-year-old (Dharmendra Pradhan) is the son of the former minister Debendra Pradhan while the Commerce and industry consumer affairs along with food and public distribution ministries were being handled by the 57-year-old Mr Goyal besides the railways which shall now be taken over by Ashwini Vaishnaw who is a new entrant and a Rajya Sabha member of the Parliament from Odisha.
Along with Mr Pradhan, he too was elevated to the cabinet rank in September 2017.
