On Monday, Anand Kumar, Super 30 founder, and mathematician was awarded the ‘Sarabhai Teacher Scientist National Honorary Award 2021’ by the National Council of Teacher Scientist (NCTS) for giving mathematics coaching to the underprivileged students to succeed in the IIT exams, said the organizers.
For nearly 20 years, Kumar, a native of Bihar was giving coaching to underprivileged students for JEE-Advanced, the entrance exam for the Indian Institutes of Technology IIT. On Sunday during a virtual event held on the occasion of Teachers’ Day Anand Kumar was also awarded by the life membership of the organization, NCTS Chairman Chandramouli Joshi said in a statement.
By the Gujarat-based Raman Science And Technology Foundation, the Delhi-headquartered NCTS was working a registered trust, with an aim to develop and encourage scientific temper among teachers.
A vote of thanks was given by Anand Kumar in which he thanked the award organizers and said in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected the underprivileged sections the most, he is now trying to reach out to more and more people using technology.
Underprivileged students have no access to resources like reading materials, lack uniforms, lack enough food and this may lead to uncompleted dreams. Many students are bright in their studies but due to the lack of money and resources, they’re unable to fulfil their dreams. People like Anand Kumar will help those students to come and study and for sure this will help to take India one step ahead towards development.
