Silver prices continued their strong upward momentum on Tuesday, January 27, with rates in Chennai touching fresh record highs amid firm global cues and sustained demand for precious metals.
As per the latest available data, silver in Chennai is priced at Rs 3,870 per 10 grams, while 100 grams of silver costs Rs 38,700. On a larger scale, silver prices have climbed to Rs 3,87,000 per kilogram in the city. This marks a sharp rise compared to the previous session, reflecting the broader rally seen in domestic and international silver markets.
On a per-gram basis, silver in Chennai is currently trading at Rs 387 per gram, higher by Rs 10 per gram from Monday’s closing levels. The sharp day-on-day jump mirrors the continued strength in global silver prices, which have remained near all-time highs in overseas markets.
The ongoing rally in silver is being supported by strong global cues, persistent safe-haven demand and heightened interest in precious metals as investors remain cautious amid global economic uncertainty. Silver has also outperformed gold so far this year, benefiting from its dual role as both a precious metal and an industrial input.
With prices at elevated levels, market participants and buyers in Chennai are closely monitoring daily movements, as silver rates remain sensitive to global developments and shifts in investor sentiment.
