Commodity markets traded mixed on Monday, with silver leading gains, while energy prices remained under pressure.

Silver futures surged 3.54% to Rs 2,58,726, rising by Rs 8,834, as safe-haven demand strengthened amid global risk uncertainty. Gold also moved higher, climbing 1.24% to Rs 1,57,374, supported by similar defensive flows.

Among base metals, copper edged up 0.27% to Rs 1,246.20, while zinc slipped 0.17% to Rs 325.10, reflecting muted industrial demand signals.

Energy commodities underperformed sharply. Crude oil declined 1.87% to Rs 5,715, tracking easing geopolitical risk premiums and supply-side comfort. Natural gas saw the steepest fall, tumbling 6% to Rs 301, extending its recent weakness.

Overall, the session highlighted a clear divergence, with precious metals outperforming on risk aversion, while energy prices remained under selling pressure.
