The brand-new Volvo EX60 electric SUV is being set for its 2026 launch. According to Autocar UK, this will be the first vehicle from Volvo to sit on a completely new, highly scalable platform with cutting-edge computing technologies.
This all-new SUV will be a significant vehicle in Volvo’s electric switch, acting as the electric equivalent to the massively popular XC60 family SUV, which has long been the Swedish company’s best-seller.
The SPA3 architecture will manage the platform tasks, and the new EX60 SUV will use the same Volvo Cars Superset technology stack — as seen in the EX90 SUV — which contains the hardware and software that control the vehicle and its functions.
The forthcoming SUV will be the first Volvo to benefit from mega casting, a technology slated to be debuted with the SPA3 that allows large parts of a vehicle to be made as a single part rather than several elements.
