BYD India has announced that its Sealion 7 electric SUV will become more expensive starting January 1, 2026, with the updated prices set to take effect at the beginning of the new year. Customers, however, can still purchase the SUV at existing prices if they book their vehicle on or before December 31, 2025.

The Sealion 7 is currently priced at ₹48.90 lakh for the Premium variant and ₹54.90 lakh for the Performance variant (ex-showroom). Since its debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the SUV has recorded over 2,000 sales in India, signaling strong demand in the premium EV space.

Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles Business at BYD India, acknowledged the Sealion 7’s growing popularity and reiterated the company’s focus on customer value. BYD India has also been expanding its retail network, now operating 47 showrooms across 40 cities.

The Sealion 7 features BYD’s iTAC and Cell to Body (CTB) technology and uses an 82.56 kWh battery pack integrated into the chassis. The Performance variant delivers 390 kW, accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, and offers a 542 km range (NEDC). The Premium variant produces 230 kW and provides a slightly higher range of 567 km.

The SUV has received a 5-star NCAP safety rating and measures 4,830 mm in length with a 2,930 mm wheelbase. Globally, BYD’s parent company has sold over 14 million New Energy Vehicles and ranked 91st on the 2025 Fortune Global 500 list, backed by a $14.4 billion brand valuation. In 2024 alone, BYD sold 4.27 million NEVs, marking a 41.26% year-on-year growth.
