Auto Expo 2022 postponed due to COVID-19 situation

The week-long biennial event has been postponed due to the COVID-19 situation in the country. The show was previously scheduled from 2 February 2022 to 9 February 2022.

In an official statement on Monday, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) announced that the automobile trade fair, Auto Expo – The Motor Show 2022, has been postponed due to the COVID-19 situation in the country.

Auto Expo, was previously scheduled for February 2-9, 2022, at Indian Expo Mart, in Greater Noida.

SIAM said that the show was postponed to ensure the safety of the exhibitors and other stakeholders. There is a higher risk of the spread of the virus, as the event will be attended by a large crowd, and maintaining social distance would be difficult.

“The Indian Automobile Industry and SIAM recognize the inherent risks in organizing the Auto Expo due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic and the apprehensions of a possible 3rd Wave. Also, Auto Expo is like a festival of celebration for the Indian Automobile Industry and we look forward to receiving maximum people with no fear of the spread of infection,” told Rajesh Menon, director-general for SIAM to Economic Times.

The date for the next edition of Auto Expo will be finalized by the end of this year as the organizers would require at least a year to organize the event.

Auto Expo 2022 is a week-long biennial event that invites 100000 visitors. This is the first time the show has been postponed.
