Queen Elizabeth II to become World’s 2nd Longest Reigning Monarch in 6 days leaving King Rama IX of Thailand behind

Queen Elizabeth set to become the second-longest reigning sovereign of the world in 6 days.

Queen Elizabeth II in only 6 days will become the 2nd Longest-Reigning Incumbent Monarch of the World. Already having created an iconic record of the Longest-Reigning Female Monarch in Recorded History. This week marks the Platinum Jubilee for Her Majesty. Moreover, it marks her iconic reign of 70 years as the monarch, head of state and the sovereign Queen of Great Britain and its commonwealth.

This makes Her Majesty the Longest-Reigning British Monarch after she had overcome Queen Victoria. Who had ruled from 1837 to 1901 for nearly 63 years. Her Majesty has also gained the title of the Longest-Reigning Female Sovereign in the History of the World, but Queen Elizabeth is not yet the longest-reigning monarch in the entire world. 

This title has been taken by two other monarchs before Her Majesty. One of them was King Bhumibol Adulyadej, also known as Bhumibol the Great and Rama IX, who ruled Thailand for more than 70 years until his death in 2016. He came to the throne in June 1946 following the death of his brother, King Ananda Mahidol, who died from a gunshot wound.

Therefore as of today, Queen Elizabeth has ruled for a total time period of 70 years and 120 days. This means that in just 6 days Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth would become The 2nd Longest-Reigning Incumbent Monarch and The Longest-Reigning Female Monarch in Recorded History.

The longest-reigning monarch in history is King Louis XIV (the 14th). Often known as the Sun King, who ruled for a record-breaking 72 years and 110 days. The fact that he ascended to the king at the age of four undoubtedly aided his long rule. During his reign, France emerged as the dominant power in the world.
