Ola Electric: Anand Mahindra praises the company’s first EV after its receives 1 lakh bookings in a day

“The unprecedented demand is a clear indicator of shifting consumer preferences to EVs”, says CEO Bhavish Aggarwal.

On Sunday morning, Mahindra Group’s Chairman Anand Mahindra lauded Ola Electric and its CEO Bhavish Aggarwal on the microblogging site Twitter for its first EV (Electric Vehicle) after the company registered a record-breaking booking response from consumers.

Aggarwal replied to the billionaire’s tweet thanking him for the encouragement.

On July 17, Ola had announced that the bookings for its electric scooter had crossed the mark of 1 lakh only within 24 hours of its opening, making it the most pre-booked scooter in the world.

The reservations for the EV had opened on 15th July with a booking price of only ₹499. In order to have a keyless experience, app-based key will be one of the features of the e-scooter.

According to the company, the e-scooter would be class leading referring to its speed, range, boot space and technology. The EV has the ability to be charged up to 50 per cent in a matter of 18 minutes with its fast charger. The 50 per cent charge can provide a 75 kilometres driving range, as reported by Mint.

The EV is set to be made in India and would be manufactured at the world’s largest two-wheeler factory called Futurefactory in Tamil Nadu. Ola will disclose the features and price of the e-scooter in the coming days.
