Cyrus Mistry Dies In Road Accident Near Mumbai

According to the official, Cyrus Mistry was travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in his Mercedes car.


Cyrus Mistry, an Indian businessman and former Chairman of Tata Sons, was killed in a road accident in Palghar on Sunday afternoon.

According to Palghar police, Mistry died in a road accident while travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai after his car collided with a divider. There were four people in the car, two died on the spot and two were taken to the hospital.

On learning about the incident, PM Modi expressed his shock and said, “The untimely demise of Shri Cyrus Mistry is shocking. He was a promising business leader who believed in India’s economic prowess. His passing away is a big loss to the world of commerce and industry. Condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace.”

When Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde learned of the incident, he expressed his shock, saying, “Mistry was not only a successful industrialist but a young and future-oriented individual too. We have lost a talented industrialist. His death is not only a loss for the Mistry family but for India’s industrial sector as well. My heartfelt condolences on his demise.”

Sharad Pawar’s daughter, Supriya Sule, tweeted her condolences. “Devastating News My Brother Cyrus Mistry passed away. Can’t believe it. Rest in Peace Cyrus,” said a shocked Ms Sule.

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal expressed his condolences on Twitter, calling him India’s “shining star” in the industry.

Smriti Irani, Union Minister for Women Development, said Mr Mistry “embodied kindness.”

“The accident took place around 3.15 pm when Mistry was travelling to Mumbai from Ahmedabad. The accident took place on a bridge over the Surya river. It seems an accident,” the police official said.

According to the sources, the accident was caused by overspeeding, and Cyrus’ remains are being held at Kasa Government Hospital.

He was 54 and survived by his wife and two sons. Mistry’s family members, according to one of his close family friends, were away for a function.
