Karan Adani, son of Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, has assumed the position of Managing Director at Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), succeeding his father. Previously serving as the company’s CEO, Karan now takes on the leadership mantle at one of India’s prominent port operators.
With a degree in Economics from Purdue University in the United States, Karan embarked on his career with the Adani Group in 2009, starting at Mundra Port. Since then, he has played a pivotal role in the strategic development and day-to-day operations of the conglomerate.
Under Karan’s leadership, APSEZ has witnessed robust growth, expanding its operations both domestically and internationally. His tenure as CEO saw the company undertake ambitious projects, including the development of new ports and terminals, solidifying its position as a global port operator.
In addition to his role at APSEZ, Karan serves as a non-executive director for Ambuja Cements and has led project management for the Adani Group’s airport project. He also holds the position of Chairman at ACC Limited, a Mumbai-based cement producer.
Karan’s diverse connections extend beyond business, with his marriage to Paridhi Shroff, daughter of Cyril Shroff, Managing Partner at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas. The couple has a daughter, adding another dimension to Karan’s personal and professional life.
With the appointment of Ashwani Gupta as the new CEO, APSEZ continues its journey of growth and innovation under Karan’s leadership, further solidifying the Adani legacy in the business world.
